What I mean is doesnt the heat on wood stove come out from all angles of the stove and so if it is surrounded by fireplace walls 75% of the heat will be blocked or just run up the chimney? Is this true will it defeat the purpose? If so would it be a good idea to just have the stove in front of the fireplace with the vent going up the chimney still?

      The brick in to move air tight stove will put more heat up the sides and will rise so that is.

      For the front heaters not like the old timers that where just hunks of heated iron.
