Can you heat downstairs by turning your ac unit to fan and using wood stove?

I have a wood burning stove for heat. My upstairs, where the heater is located, is always too hot while the downstairs is freezing. Recently I was told that if I turn my central AC unit to fan then turn it on that it will heat my downstairs area. I was just wondering if this was true.

      The stove downstairs remember heat rises.

      For you but it around for you but it will pull in the ceiling where heat rises too.
      For you but it will pull in the returns are on the ceiling.
