My boyfriend is renting a room. It appears that the woodstove he was using in the living room got too hot, and slightly burnt the wall behind it. However, the stove sits on brick with laminate wood boards on two sides. Is this up to code? I can’t seem to find where the codes are listed. He lives in Washington state.

I’ve been looking at the large (heats 2,200 sq ft) Pleasant Hearth wood stove at Lowes. It’s made in the USA. I’m sure as with all products the claims about how much area it actually heats is probably overrated but it comes with a 5 year limited warrenty and the guy at Lowes said they will take it back if I’m not happy with it.
Anyway, does anyone have one of these stoves? What can you tell me about them?

This year, I just did it on Jan 3rd or so and I don’t plan on doing it again until April 1st. I burn nice dry wood so I am not too concerned about creosote buildup. In fact when I did clean it out, it is always crispy black built up on the inner walls of the pipe. How often do you do yours?
