Will a wood stove start fire to a rug made from hide about 2 feet away?

hillbilly gal asked:

This past weekend we went to visit my fiances dad and crazy step-mom. We are moving into a new house a little in the woods and we were considering putting a rug (made from animal hide) in front of our wood stove. There is about a foot and a half of bricks between the wood stove and the floor. Then the rug would be another foor or two away. I don’t think this is likely since it’s not a fireplace and won’t put off sparks in that sense. I just think it’s a really low possibility and she wanted to rain on our parade. Can someone tell me how likely this would be? Thanks a zillion!

can i install a wood stove in an existing chimney that has a furnace attached to it?

voodoochile413 asked:

i have a small wood stove and want to put it in my kitchen. the chimney has an oil furnace attached to it in the basement and the gas water heater above the furnace. the wood stove will be about 8 feet above the furnace. id prefer to just vent it into the existing furnace without having to use the chimney liners.

Gas vs wood stove insert fireplace?

Derek P asked:

Were building a new house and were wondering, is it cheaper to build a gas fireplace or a woodstove insert fireplace. I imagine you need more materials for the chimney in a wood stove fireplace, making it more expensive, but of coarse wood is free on my large lot. Any suggestions?

is there a stone sealer that is heat resistant for floor under a wood stove?

gayle g asked:

The “fake” stone under my wood stove is chipping. I need a sealer that is safe to use under the wood stove. Fireproof etc. I don’t care whether it is a gloss or matte finish. A paint or roll on product is what I am looking for.

Can heat from a wood stove damage a nearby lcd tv?

budgirl574 asked:

I’d like to purchase an lcd tv, but it would end up being near our wood buring stove, which we use in the winter. What is the necessary distance it would need to be from the wood stove?

My husband and I are buying a house with a pellet stove and would like to have a wood-burning stove instead. Is it possible to swap the pellet stove out and how hard is it?
