I need to know how to install a wood stove chimney, specifically the top pieces that go through the roof?

RDW asked:

A friend recently gave me his wood stove along with all the pieces. There is a three piece assembly that goes through the roof but I’m not exactly sure what goes where, could you please help me?

Can I put a wood stove insert into a pseudo fireplace with no chimney, just a stovepipe?

miko asked:

I am having a house built in rural Idaho and want to have the look of a fireplace but the efficiency of a wood-burning stove. I don’t want to pay for a big fancy chimney up the outside of the house. I just want to have the look of a fireplace inside. Is this possible (legal) and how?

What if I burned a small amount of coal in my wood stove?

Shamrock4751 asked:

What’s the possibility of overheating my wood stove with a few pieces of coal every couple of hours for more heat? My stove has a catalytic converter and nice chimney, so backfumes shouldn’t be an issue.

How can I make my wood stove more efficient?

qazwsx asked:

I live in a country where central heating hasn’t quite caught on yet. We have a wood stove, but it seems like such a waste to me. Maybe 90 percent of the heat goes up through the pipe. I’ve heard of hooking it up to the water to heat water, are there any more ideas to make it more effiecient? Like a fan mechanism or something?

does a wood pellet stove produce more energy per pound of fuel than a conventional wood stove burning hardwood?

whotoblame asked:

If not, what would be the point of buying a wood pellet stove over a conventional wood stove?

Can I put wood pellets directly into wood burning stove?

Mary J asked:

I know there is a wood pellet basket to use in wood stoves, but it doesn’t fit in my stove. Also the cast iron victorian fire baskets are nice but pricey.
Can I just make a pile in the bottom of the wood stove or would the amount of heat produced melt the metal?

If you insert a wood stove into a fireplace wont the fireplace walls hinder the heat from spreading out?

dt asked:

What I mean is doesnt the heat on wood stove come out from all angles of the stove and so if it is surrounded by fireplace walls 75% of the heat will be blocked or just run up the chimney? Is this true will it defeat the purpose? If so would it be a good idea to just have the stove in front of the fireplace with the vent going up the chimney still?
